 | Racers Chill Beckwith's Hot Streak Sunday, July 3rd, 2011: John Beckwith, shortstop for the Charlotte Cougars, gave it a good try, but his day in history finally came to an end, when he went hitless in 4 tries against the Louisville Racers. Not only had they stopped his 20-game hitting streak, they had beaten Charlotte 3-0, too.
Speaking with the media after the game, Beckwith said, "Now that the streak has ended, I admit I will breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat. It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate."
For the season Beckwith has hit .264 with 13 home runs and 46 RBIs. He has played in 81 games and scored 40 times. | |
