 | NL Player of the Week Chosen Monday, July 11th, 2011: 26-year-old Jay Gibbons sent shock waves through Pastime Baseball League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Northern League Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Gibbons made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .381 average, 8 hits in 21 at-bats, 3 home runs and 10 RBI. Where the Wichita Brigade first baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Gibbons certainly made his mark last week. For the season Gibbons is hitting .270, batted in 59 runs with 17 home runs and 54 runs scored. |
